In an act of racism, a Swiss part-time model and YouTuber referred to East Asians as “Ching Chongs” in a blog post.
The model, who goes by the name Cocomadkilla, features and reviews different cosmetic and skincare products for her followers in the blog. While writing a review for the Korean brand Glowrious, she called East Asians “ching chongs.”

The model reviewed the products after Nathan Lim, the brand’s representative, sent her a package. However, after writing the racially abusive post, she went ahead and recorded a video of herself reviewing the brand. In the video, she called Lim “Ching Wong Yun.”
The video has since been deleted, the blog post edited and the racist word removed. However, the model has not apologized for her comments.
Swiss Asian social activists Robyn Li Wade and Nela Merdi are urging the model to issue an apology.
“I honestly believe it's lack of conversation and education on the matter here. I find people here generally have racist feelings and opinions. They seem friendly and nice in your face but behind your back they bring out the comments and slurs,” said Li Wade.
Merdi also added that issues such as this one need more attention.
“I think all the issues Asians, or mixed Asians experience in Europe need more attention, because even though it might not seem as aggressive as for example in America or in bigger parts of the world, it’s still here.”
