Dog Gets Another Chance At Life After Firefighter Performs CPR

A heartwarming video posted to Facebook shows the moment a dying dog is brought back to life by a Romanian firefighter performing CPR.

A Romanian firefighter, Costache Mugurel, is being hailed a hero after he shared a video of himself performing CPR and mouth-to-mouth on a dying pooch.

“Nobody gets left behind,” he captioned the footage. The video was then reposted by a local journalist, Costi Tudor.

The fireman had just finished rescuing a 51-year-old man from an apartment emergency in Pitesi when he came across a dog lying unconscious on the sidewalk.

He immediately got down on his knees and began performing CPR on the helpless animal. He even gave the dog an oxygen mask to aid him in breathing. He continued performing chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth on the dog until he came back to life as another man, dressed in his firefighter uniform, also joined in to assist.

Mugurel stayed by the animal’s side, petting him around the ear and holding the oxygen mask to his face, until his breathing stabilized. The dog was then taken to a vet and checked for smoke inhalation.

The video of Mugurel bringing the dog back to life has been viewed more than 2.5 million times and shared more by more than 12,000 people.

Scores of Facebook users left comments applauding the firefighter for his efforts and kindness towards the animal.

“Thank you for being a REAL human and for your compassion to helpless animal. You are the real hero! My respects...” one person, who goes by Leo Nor, wrote.

“Bravo! And God bless you for saving one of His creatures. I'm a dog lover, so this man is my hero. I would marry him in a heartbeat. It's just too bad I'm old enough to be his mother,” another person commented.

Considering the number of animal cruelty cases that surface online on a regular basis, it is heartwarming to know that people like Mugurel still exist.
