Single Mom Dresses Up Like ‘Dad’ To Attend School Event With Her Son

A Texas mother has gone viral after sharing photos of herself dressed as a man so she could attend a father-son event at her child’s school last week.

A Texas single mother of three has won the hearts of many after hilarious photos of her dressed as a man went viral for an uplifting reason.

Yevette Vasquez of Fort Worth was dropping her son Elijah off at school last week when she saw there were more cars than usual in the parking lot, she detailed in a Facebook post.

Her son told her that there was an event that day for students and their fathers called “Donuts with Dad.”

Vasquez — who is raising her three sons solo — decided that she didn’t want her child to miss out on the festivities just because moms weren’t invited, so she took Elijah back home and put together a disguise to transform herself into a “dad.”

“I wasn’t about to let him miss out,” Vasquez wrote on Facebook. “I know seeing other dads with there [sic] kids isn’t easy for mine but it’s life.”

Sporting a fake mustache, plaid shirt, and a baseball cap with her hair stuffed inside of it, Vasquez accompanied her son back to school to participate in the breakfast.

“Most of the dads thought it was really cool,” Vasquez reportedly told CNN. “They thought it was really supportive and sweet. I did feel the energy of a few men who weren’t as comfortable with it though.”

Regardless of what others thought, Vasquez said Elijah was excited and grateful for their clever stunt, according to The Huffington Post.

She shared photos of her spontaneous costume along with pictures of Elijah enjoying the event. Her post has garnered more than 16,000 reactions and has been shared nearly 6,000 times.

In addition to being extremely touching, the photos are quite comical. Despite the mustache, it’s very clear that Vasquez is a woman, but the effort she put into the disguise is beyond impressive.

After receiving so much support, she followed up with another post expressing her appreciation for all who have passed her story around.

“It’s officially all over the world I have gotten messages and interviews from everywhere like Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, Europe, Afghanistan, United Kingdom an [sic] India and that’s not counting the United States!!! This is one AMAZING time in our lives and we greatly appreciate all the LOVE!!!! Shout out to all parents being a parent single or not ain’t easy so I salute you all as well!!!,” she wrote.

Vasquez is being praised for going above and beyond for her son, in light of her circumstances, and showing the world the unconditional love she has for her children.

She clearly knows that children don’t deserve to be punished for situations that are out of their control, so she made sure her kid would not feel excluded on her watch.
