This is the moment when Sen. Ted Cruz was inadvertently kicked off stage by an inattentive emcee.
During a speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference, the Texas senator was abruptly cut off and forced to give up the stage even before he was able to finish his speech. The Texas senator had only two things to say to those in attendance but even that was perhaps too long for the master of ceremonies.
“What I want to say to the men and women here are two things: number one, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your passion, thank you for your time, thank you for your energy, thank you for speaking out and working to retake our nation,” Cruz said and was followed by a burst of applause.
The senator stood on stage, beaming, for a few moments basking in the glory until he was abruptly brought back to earth by the emcee announcing the next speaker, prematurely.
You can see the expression on the senator’s face as he wondered what happened, as disco music was put on and the coalition’s regional director Virginia Galloway flounced on stage. Cruz tried to speak but his microphone was already de-activated and Galloway had already taken the podium.
Sensing defeat, the senator flung up his hands in classic Cruz style, sulked and walked off stage.
Organizers later apologized for the goof-up but it seems they were quite unaware of the much-needed levity their simple scheduling error created.
