Turkmenistan Officials Promote Healthy Living With A Trip To The Gym

The president of Turkmenistan and some of his top officials made their way to the gym to get some exercise and also promote healthy living.

The president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, got together with his colleagues, including the chairman of the parliament, deputy prime ministers, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, for a sports training in the capital's Olympic Village.

Berdimuhamedov is a known fitness freak and often takes out time for the gym. He has high level skills in bowling and is in excellent physical shape.

The men dressed in green can be seen working out on different machines at the gym and indulging in various exercises.

Previously, people in Turkmenistan were instructed to exercise on a regular basis as part of a month-long campaign aimed at promoting healthy living. It has now been extended into the “Month of Health and Happiness," which is held annually on the order of President Berdimuhamedov. The government’s website states that the campaign is part of his "wise and far-sighted policy" to keep citizens of the country healthy.

The president also often makes workers and students participate in group exercise routines, which requires them to attend sporting events and go on group jogs and bike rides.

Berdimuhamedov’s enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise is a breath of fresh air at a time when most people are obsessively indulging in food and eating away their stress.
