Luxury brand Victoria’s Secret is known for seductive ads.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, the brand decided to use its models for an ad to join in the game — literally. Although this time around, the premium lingerie brand decided to spice up its act and take the rough route, capitalizing on the 2016 Super Bowl spirit.
Instead of the regular red and pink lingerie, ever-lasting fragrances and fashionable apparel, VS incorporated five of its most-popular models — Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes and Taylor Hill — into a sports-themed video and photo shoot.
The video, posted above, shows a team of VS Angels competing against the Devils in a super energetic football game assisted by Erin Andrews.
The campaign, going by the name of “Score More,” is surely a double-edged sword, which seems like a desperate attempt to appeal to both sports and Valentine’s Day enthusiasts.
The clip ends with the Angels moving to a song, turning their head side to side, as they celebrity victory. A message appearing at the end says “This Valentine’s Day, Score More.”
Although watching VS models promoting a game in a sporty video was a rather unexpected move, one cannot deny the fact that using the opportunity to promote “scoring more” on Valentine’s Day is a rather sexist move.
At the end of the day, sex sells, and from a brand like VS, we really don't expect anything different.
