The Internet Is Awestruck By ‘Smiley Face’ In Volcanic Eruption

One of the world’s most active volcanoes offered a special visual treat by forming a smiley face in lava that has been dubbed “nature’s grin.”

Photos of a volcanic eruption have gone viral as people have become fascinated by the illusion of the lava appearing to form “nature’s grin.”

The Kilaueavolcano of Hawaii is known as one of the world’s most active volcanoes, according to USA Today. During one of its most recent eruptions, a smiley face seemed to form in its 80-feet deep crater.

Kilauea has been continuously erupting since 1983, but the current lava flow began on May 24 and barely just reached the Pacific Ocean on July 26 — its first time reaching the ocean since 2013.

The video of the fiery smiley face was captured Thursday by helicopter tour company Paradise Helicopters and depicts a nearly perfect grin with two glowing eyes.

The footage is truly remarkable and offers a glimpse of beauty at a time when the world — particularly the United States — is being bombarded by ugliness in the form of hate.
